End of the Year

Thailand

We always have a photos or two of Roger & Rex on their birthday.  This year neither of them wanted any fuss so we had a quiet dinner and celebration at home.

Birthdays.  We always have a photos or two of Roger & Rex on their birthday.  This year neither of them wanted any fuss so we had a quiet dinner and celebration at home.

Roger was 16 this year

Rex didn't bother dressing up, but enjoyed it

Roger seemed to enjoy it, too.  (BTW, Roger is close to getting his braces removed)

In February Rex & Neil went to see AC/DC in Sydney.  We bought the tickets about 8 months earlier; what a racket, to have the float of the money for that long.  The photos aren't good, our little point & shoot camera isn't designed for this kind of use.

OK, so Neil is too old to wear a band T shirt - he changed before we left

That little figure is Angus

A sellout at ANZ Stadium; like we said, that's a lot money at $100-$150 per ticket, paid 8 mths in advance

A few days after AC/DC went to a T20 match - Australia vs West Indies at the SCG.  While everyone in the family had a ticket, Roger said he had school work that needed to be finished & Usa refused to go; so it was only Neil & Rex who went, but we had a good time.

SCG after the game.

<--- Taken with Neil's phone

Not a great photo & we forgot to take any when play was in progress

Intentionally blank

In March Neil was sent by HP to Kuala Lumpur to pitch for some banking work.  He was only there a few days and stayed near the BSN office he worked in 1980-81, so he took some photos of new and old.  The trip was only 3-4 days but very enjoyable; he has lots of good memories in KL.  (But the HP pitch didn't work out too well.)

This credit card center used to be the entire bank headquarters.  Neil worked on the 3rd floor

the car park entrance is in the same place, but most everything else is different

It's grown a lot since those days

And the new bank HQ doesn't look out of place even near the famous Petronas Twin Towers

Angkasa Raya was a good building in 1980. Now it's a little "tired"

But the Petronas Towers are great to see

The area across the road has all been redeveloped, except for the cemetery, which is still there. We foreigners had to turn off the lights in the bank after working at night because the locals were too afraid of the spirits to do it

In 1980 this old house was the le Coq d'Or restaurant, a favorite lunch place next to the bank; chicken chop, anyone? This photo is taken from the Internet because the building was demolished in 2006.

Desa Kudalari, the apt complex that Neil stayed in 1980-81. It's still there & apparently still a good place to rent. (Photo from a property listing on the Internet)
